What will I be paying for my training?
- Crossing Borders Spanish Enrichment training: $497 – this includes training and Spanish teaching materials
- Crossing Borders Spanish Camp training: $300 – this includes training and Spanish lesson plans
- Crossing Borders Spanish Immersion training: $997 – this includes training and Spanish lesson plans
- Crossing Borders $99 annual certification renewal fee
- U.S shipping of your Spanish Enrichment training starter packet will be $29.99. For international shipments, you will need to contact Crossing Borders for a shipping and handling quote.
- Business set up, business cards, website, flyers, etc.
- General Liability Insurance (recommended)
You can choose one, two, or all of the trainings. You can also start with one and then continue adding the rest.
Does Crossing Borders offer a payment plan to pay for the training?
Not at this time.
Do I need teaching experience to become an instructor?
No. We teach you everything you need to know and provide you with all the resources to start your own Spanish classes and enhance a child’s career. We do recommend that you have advanced fluency in the Spanish language or that you are a native Spanish speaker.
How long will it take for me to be certified?
This is a self-study online course that you can do in your spare time from your home computer. Some instructors have received certification in as little as two days, while other instructors have taken months to complete the training. The length of the training ultimately depends on you.
Is the training difficult?
No, each module builds on the next and provides you with everything you need to start your own successful business of teaching Spanish to children.
What does my Spanish Enrichment training include?
You will receive a packet that will help you get started. This packet is designed to help children who are 18-months to six years of age and includes tips and notes on how to teach kids who are seven to 12 years of age. You will also get three training modules that teach you how to start teaching kids Spanish from scratch, including a proper business set up, business planning, lesson plans, marketing, and more.
Is this my own business?
Yes. Crossing Borders is a program that is designed to teach you how to build your own business. Once the training is complete, you are on your own.
Is there an age requirement for becoming an instructor?
Yes, instructors must be at least 18 years of age.
Do I need special permits or licenses?
Regulations can be different from county to county, state to state, and province to province. You are advised to contact your local business license office and/or county department to see if teaching kids Spanish in your home, or in a facility, requires any special licenses or permits in your area before starting your own business.
Is this a franchise?
Are there protected geographic territories?
No, we cannot offer protected geographic territories because we are not a franchise model.
Can I substitute material in my classes?
Yes, however, we recommend using all Crossing Borders material.
Do I get my own website?
You decide if you want to invest in a website. That being said, we recommend utilizing a website to advertise your business. If you decide to participate in one of our memberships, your contact information will only be published in our website. We will not provide you with a website – this is all on your own.
How much money can I make?
That depends on you. Instructors can offer their students Spanish classes part-time or full-time depending on their individual needs. For example, if you had one class of 10 students per week, x $8/student, your revenue for the class is $80. In just one hour of class. Subtract the cost of rent, if you had to pay rent per hour (example: $25), and your profit for the class is $55. If you hold 3 classes/week, your profit is approx. $165/week. You can grow you class sizes or add camps to grow your business into a full-time income.
How do I get paid for my classes?
Payment depends on your specific situation. If you are closing the sale yourself, you will be responsible for personally collecting class fees from your customers. If you participate in our memberships and offer online classes, Crossing Borders will notify you when we sell a class, and process the payment according to our agreement.
Where do I hold my classes?
Classes can be held in homes, churches, schools, neighborhood facilities, after-school facilities, etc.
Is this Part-time or Full-Time?
You choose your own hours and create your own schedule based on your needs. We’ll show you how to manage your time in a part-time or full-time capacity.
How do I schedule classes?
You decide your own work schedule. If you participate in our memberships, you will receive a scheduler that is customized with your personal contact information, picture, and a bio. As a member, you will also receive free leads from parents who are looking to enroll their children in classes in your area, and benefit from Crossing Borders’ massive national and international marketing reach.
How long are the classes?
Spanish Enrichment classes can be from 45 minutes to 90 minutes. Spanish Camp and Spanish Immersion can be three to six hours per day either two, three, or five days a week.
What kind of support do you offer?
Crossing Borders members will receive monthly group support calls and participate in our private Facebook group where we foster a teamwork attitude and encourage support and the sharing of ideas between instructors. Read more about our memberships.
